Craigslist Personals has Gone to Bed

Craigslist Personals – Another nail in the coffin for advertisers of scam profiles happened within the last couple of days, as Craigslist Personals has hit the wall.

We could see it, you could see it, and we’re quite sure that Craigs-list felt it in their water, that a huge proportion of their personal ads were totally fake – many ‘advertisers’ posting ads that insisted on you joining new websites at a premium fee to receive text messages.

Other scenarios would most likely include ‘bait and switch’ – where if an advertiser really DID exist, they would look nothing like the advert, and anonymous posting, where you would never ever meet the advertiser but they would ask for a deposit for services that would never happen

We’re just waiting now for reality to kick in with the ‘bait and switch’ tactics used by VivaStreet and BumPix that are again so obvious to everyone, their respective ‘quality control’ systems allowing anything to advertise.

Following the demise of Backpage (by the FBI) and now Craigslist (by the US senate) who passed a bill to fight online sex trafficking through third parties, it can really only be a matter of time before the UK follows suit, ALL of the previously mentioned websites allowing ‘anonymous posting of ads’ with just a throw-away email address rather than insisting that at least a social network is used to register and advertise.

From a report on the BoingBoing blog:

The personals section of Craigslist was shut down indefinitely by its management on Thursday, a response to Congress’s passage of a law that holds websites liable for users who misuse personal ads.

That means no more “casual encounters” or “missed connections” (or anything under the “personals” umbrella) for anyone until much-further notice. It’s all just gone.

And from a report on Stuff blog:

One of my oldest childhood friends, for example, posted a Craigslist ad back in the mid-2000s and met her husband. Now they’re expecting their second child! But answer the wrong ad, and there’s a risk of being raped, murdered or falling into a sex-trafficking ring.

Heavy stuff there, and all of us at Midlands Maidens Nottingham Escorts hope that you never run into the above scenarios.
